Society profile
The Law & Business Society (“LBS”) is a student organization at the Faculty of Law, University of British Columbia. We are dedicated to promoting a discussion of business law issues, while helping to establish UBC Law as a premier business law education destination. The LBS was created to serve two main groups:
Current UBC law students: we work with business-focused firms in Vancouver to provide firm tours and events, helping to expose current students to career paths and opportunities in business law. Students do not need a previous background in business to participate in LBS events; we welcome any and all current UBC law students.
Law firms: we help Vancouver firm representatives meet, interact with, and get to know more about the current group of UBC Law candidates, as the LBS attracts some of the best and brightest. Many Vancouver firms strive to create unique opportunities for current students, such as the lounge nights, poker tournaments, “speed networking” events, or wine or champagne tastings. We primarily draw 2L and 1L students to these events, and are happy to work with any current Vancouver firm to help them connect with the UBC Law talent base.
